"One man
with a fair amount of basic medical knowledge
can make a difference in the lives of many.
Without qualified medical personnel available,
it is you who must know what to do to stay
alive."
~ US Army Survival Manual ~
The US Army
Survival Manual dedicates twenty-seven pages to
first aid and tips to deal with injury and
illnesses. You can download it for FREE
here or you can order it in hardcopy or
paperback.
Whether you are living in the city or the
wilderness or just going on vacation, you should
purchase several first aid kits. One for
your home and one for each vehicle. These
kits have the basic supplies, but I always
suggest that you add a few goodies of your own,
and keep them updated, because one never knows
when the need will arise. If you have your
backpacks set up for a quick exit, be sure you
have added the medical supplies that you will
need, if just a minimal amount of each item.
Keep a medical training manual with these
supplies. Try to find the time
to study up on alternative methods. Purchase or
download information on herbs, wild crafting and
a good vitamin and minerals manual. Never
take for granted that you will never need to
know this information. If for some reason
you find yourself stranded in the wilderness,
your knowledge on editable plants and medicinal
plants for all regions could save your life
and/or your families life.
Don't forget about dental supplies and
instruments needed to pull a tooth or sooth a
broken tooth. Anything can happen. |
